Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. A full-time opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students across various grade levels including preschool, elementary, middle, and high school. This role is based in Kenner, LA and involves working within a school setting under a contract arrangement. Multiple openings exist within the district, offering candidates the chance to contribute their expertise across diverse educational environments. Key responsibilities include providing accurate and effective sign language interpretation services, facilitating communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and educators, and collaborating with school staff to ensure an inclusive learning experience. Caseload details will be tailored to the interpreters relative experience during the interview process, allowing for an individualized approach to student support. Qualifications and desired experience: Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter Experience working with students ranging from preschool through high school Ability to deliver 1:1 interpreting services as needed Strong communication skills and cultural competence within Deaf and hard-of-hearing communities Previous work in educational settings is preferred This full-time position requires approximately 35 hours per week and offers an engaging environment to enhance accessibility and educational equity for students with hearing impairments.
