Description Vitol BioMethane, LLC (VBM) is looking for a Senior RNG
Technician for our Landfill Gas to Energy (LFGTE) projects located
throughout the country. This is an opportunity to join a growing
team and be a part of the energy transition by supporting
production of a renewable energy source. The Senior RNG Technician
is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation,
maintenance, and performance of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG)
facilities and supporting Gas Collection and Control Systems
(GCCS). This role includes hands-on management of complex plant
systems, preventive and corrective maintenance, advanced
troubleshooting, and mentorship of RNG Technicians. Reporting to
the Plant Manager, the Senior RNG Technician ensures compliance
with safety, environmental, and operational standards, and supports
optimization efforts and new facility commissioning across the
company’s RNG portfolio. Operations and Optimization: Lead safe and
efficient daily operation of RNG processing facilities, GCCS
components, and product pipeline systems. Monitor, adjust, and
optimize process parameters (e.g., flow rates, pressures, gas
composition) using SCADA and advanced control systems. Conduct
regular inspections of plant equipment to assess performance and
identify abnormal conditions; record and analyze operational data
to ensure proper functionality Oversee plant startup and shutdown
activities, coordinating with the Plant Manager. Manage emergency
response situations to stabilize systems or safely shut down
equipment when necessary. Review daily operational and maintenance
reports to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
(SOPs) and environmental regulations. Maintenance and
Troubleshooting: Perform and lead preventive maintenance for
mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Diagnose and
correct faults in compressors, blowers, pumps, membranes, PSA
units, analyzers, sensors, and related plant systems. Conduct
advanced troubleshooting of control systems and instrumentation,
including calibration of flow, pressure, temperature, and level
sensors. Test and repair electrical circuits (up to 480V) using
meters and diagnostic tools while maintaining compliance with
electrical codes and safety standards. Support planning and
execution of scheduled outages and maintenance activities,
including defining parts, tools, and contractor requirements.
Safety and Compliance: Lead by example in maintaining a strong
safety culture and enforce compliance with OSHA, EPA, PHMSA, and
company standards. Implement and document Lockout/Tagout (LOTO),
confined space entry, and hazardous waste management procedures.
Conduct and document routine safety and environmental inspections;
correct deficiencies and report significant issues promptly.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment consistent with
company standards. Team Leadership and Collaboration: Mentor and
train RNG Technicians in operations, troubleshooting, and safety
practices. Serve as acting Lead Technician when the Lead Technician
is unavailable. Collaborate with engineering and project teams
during commissioning, performance testing, and process optimization
initiatives. Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams,
including maintenance, environmental, and compliance personnel.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely
operations and maintenance logs, inspection records, and work
orders. Prepare reports summarizing plant performance, downtime
causes, and corrective actions. Support compliance documentation
and data collection for renewable energy credit programs (e.g.,
RINs, RFS, QAP). Ensure accurate hazardous waste labeling,
movement, and manifest documentation per regulatory requirements.
Qualifications Experience: Education: High school diploma or
equivalent required. Technical or vocational training in industrial
maintenance, process operations, electrical systems, or
instrumentation preferred. 3 years of experience in landfill gas
processing, RNG, biogas, chemical plant, or power generation
facility operations. Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and
process troubleshooting in an industrial setting. Experience with
advanced instrumentation, process controls, and SCADA systems.
Prior experience leading or mentoring junior technicians strongly
preferred. Skills: Strong understanding of process control systems,
mechanical systems, and electrical circuits. Ability to interpret
P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Skilled in
diagnosing, calibrating, and maintaining instrumentation and
control equipment. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel,
Outlook) and computerized maintenance systems. Effective
communicator with strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make
informed operational decisions. Certifications (Preferred but not
required): OSHA 10 or 30 HAZWOPER Confined Space Entry Electrical
or Mechanical Maintenance Certification Location and Availability:
Based at a designated plant location, with potential rotation to
other sites as needed. Availability for shift work, weekends,
holidays, and on-call rotations as required for 24/7 operations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders,
and work in confined spaces or at elevated heights. Work in outdoor
environments with exposure to varying weather, noise, and
industrial hazards (e.g., methane, H?S). Valid driver’s license
required; must pass background check, physical, hearing, and DOT
