Registered Nurse (RN) | Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) / Pre-Post Op Location: New Orleans, LA Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,038 per week Shift Information: Days - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 2/9/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required License: Current state nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Previous PACU or Pre/Post Op experience required. Epic charting system experience required. Description: Travelers may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" upon accepting an assignment. There is an expectation to remain on-site during emergency events. Details regarding pay for emergency events will be shared as necessary. By accepting this position, you agree to report as assigned if an emergency occurs. Patients of all ages are supported in the PACU setting. The unit provides care for all major surgical services except critical care. Nurses will care for preoperative patients as well as those in Phase I and Phase II recovery. Experience with pediatric patients is preferred due to high volume. The unit has 34 Operating Rooms and additional procedure areas. Special equipment used includes Hoyer lifts, bladder scanners, and vein finders. Patient ratios are typically maintained at 1:2. Weekend shifts may be required. The facility supports a multidisciplinary approach, providing comprehensive surgical care. Interdisciplinary support services include respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Nurses will manage a variety of surgical patients with diverse diagnoses. Candidates must have skills in various procedures including but not limited to airway assessment, pain management, and procedural sedation. Additional competencies include monitoring of vital signs, administering medications, and conducting pre-op assessments. Experience caring for adults and pediatric patients in a post-operative setting is essential.
