Job Description Merit Health Wesley is seeking a Board-Certified
Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. This is an exciting
opportunity for an experienced leader to oversee the Internal
Medicine Residency Program in Hattiesburg, Mississippi . The
hospital has an existing GME platform with accredited Emergency
Medicine and Transitional Year programs already in place. The
infrastructure, faculty foundation, and support are established,
allowing new leadership to focus on strengthening and advancing the
program rather than building from scratch. To learn more, please

Highlights: Full-time, hospital employed opportunity Develop the
Internal Medicine residency program at our hospital, including
establishing our program's vision and mission, establishing the
curriculum and taking part in submitting our initial program
application for accreditation. Internal Medicine program planned to
launch in 2027 18 residents, six per year Hospital has established
Transitional Year and Emergency Medicine programs already in place
Recruit, appoint, evaluate, and retain program leadership in
accordance with ACGME requirements. Assist with and attend
didactics/education activities, which may include making and
presenting lectures, moderating a journal club, moderating an
M&M conference, or participating in orientation week,
simulation day, and/or research days. Lead the process to interview
residency program candidates on select interview days. Develop and
ensure residents know their educational goals and schedules for the
assigned rotation(s). Ensure residents receive the required
hands-on clinical training per the ACGME internal medicine program
requirements and that faculty take the time to answer questions,
prompt learning, and offer salient teaching points. Ensure the
residents are provided informal and formal feedback throughout each
supervisory period so they are learning and growing. At the end of
the rotation, ensure the resident is provided formal feedback
through an online form and review the formal feedback with them as
appropriate. Ensure that if the resident is being supervised by a
group or team, feedback about the resident's performance is
aggregated and shared by the faculty member responsible for
completing the evaluation on behalf of the group. Qualifications:
Physician must be board-certified in the United States in the field
of Internal Medicine Completion of U.S. residency training required
Must have a genuine desire to teach and mentor residents Must have
documented administrative and/or academic leadership experience to
ensure effective implementation of the ACGME requirements Eligible
