Job Description:
SUMMARY The LSU Healthcare Network is a non-profit, academic,
multi-specialty, healthcare delivery system dedicated to patient

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must
be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The
requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge,
skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be

essential functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare
and maintain operating room equipment and supplies prior to
surgical procedures. Assist the surgical team with gowning and
gloving before procedures. Ensure the sterile field is maintained
by monitoring and enforcing aseptic techniques. Pass surgical
instruments and supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during
operations. Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and
after surgery to prevent any foreign bodies from being left inside
the patient. Assist in the preparation and application of sterile
dressings. Operate and maintain surgical equipment such as
sterilizers, lights, and suction machines. Transport patients to
and from the operating room as needed. Assist with the cleaning and
sterilization of surgical instruments and operating room surfaces.
Document surgical procedures and patient information accurately in
medical records. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of surgical
supplies and request replenishments as necessary. Assist in
emergency situations by providing necessary support to the surgical
team. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and
hospital policies. Participate in ongoing training and professional
development to stay current with surgical technology advancements.
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists,
and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and safe
