SUMMARY

The Aircraft Mechanic III, Tiltrotor assists in activities for aviation maintenance management program inspection team augmenting USMC 3D MAW Aviation Logistics Management Advisory Team (ALMAT). Activities is designed to enhance aircraft and individual unit deployment readiness through maintenance program evaluations and material condition inspections.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following:

  • Support the completion of work obligations augmenting USMC 3D MAW ALMAT inspections.
  • Execute Aircraft Material Condition Inspections (MCIs)
  • Inspect CSEC areas for Fuel Surveillance, Navy Oil Analysis, Foreign Object Damage Prevention, Vibration Analysis, Plane Captain Qualification Program, Aircraft Confined Space and other related areas.
  • Reconcile observable aircraft material conditions against recorded discrepancies
  • Assists in the execution of Emergency Response Drills.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
    SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
    • This position does not have any supervisory or management authority.
      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
      • High School Diploma, or General Education Development (GED) completion
      • Required 8+ years on active duty in the Military Occupational Specialty (MOS-6116)
      • Has served as an MV-22 Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) and has additional (MOS-6018 and 6012).
      • Has completed Corrosion Control School (N-701-0013 or C-600-3183).
        KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
        • Candidates must be US citizens
        • Candidates will be subject to a US federal government background investigation and a drug screen.
        • Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
        • Highly skilled tiltrotor mechanic and inspector.
        • Experience and training in corrosion identification and treatment.
        • Familiar with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program requirements and can easily evaluate Organizational and Intermediate level compliance.
        • Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety standards.
        • Required ability to travel away from primary location at least 25%. Travel location may include Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, CA, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, AZ, and Edwards Air Force Base, CA.
        • Skilled in verbal and written communication and can produce Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point products.
        • Has the professional and personal rapport with supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates to inform them by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
        • Easily prepares reports of findings, after-action reports, and trend analysis tools.
        • Provide constructive guidance to the activity when a safety of flight or safety of personnel discrepancy warrants immediate action.
          WORK ENVIRONMENT

          Work is performed in a controlled office environment on a military installation setting augmented by aircraft maintenance industrial setting (hangar, flight-line, and other spaces). This includes moderate sound conditions, variable outdoor weather conditions; must have the ability to stand and walk one-third to two-third of the time; the ability to talk or hear (with or without protective gear); use hands to finger, handle or feel; close vision; color vision; depth perception and ability to correct and adjust focus. Each augment will be required to support unit inspections from Monday - Thursday

          Pursuant to U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, Cherokee Federal is now requiring that all employees be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by December 8th. An individual is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (i.e., Moderna or Pfizer) or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine (i.e., Johnson & Johnson). As a prospective employee, you will fall under this requirement and proof of vaccination will be needed for on-boarding, should you be selected. Limited exemptions for religious or medical reasons will be considered.

          TEMPORARY NOTE: On Tuesday, Dec. 7, a federal judge issued an injunction blocking President Joe Biden's COVID-19 vaccine mandate for federal contractors (EO 14042). Cherokee Federal is monitoring the court case and awaiting a final ruling. As a result of the injunction, Cherokee Federal is halting the enforcement of the mandate.
