every individual we serve. SUMMARY: The Facilities Maintenance
Specialist plays an essential role in ensuring that The Arc
Gateway’s facilities remain safe, clean, and fully operational for
the individuals we serve, as well as for staff and visitors. This
hands-on position is responsible for a broad range of routine
maintenance tasks and repairs, addressing minor to moderate
facility needs, performing preventative maintenance, and completing
general grounds upkeep across multiple agency locations. The role
also supports the overall mission of The Arc Gateway by carrying
out additional duties as assigned. Working across diverse settings,
the Facilities Maintenance Specialist contributes directly to the
smooth and efficient operation of our nonprofit organization. With
an emphasis on cost-effective solutions and service efficiency,
this position helps maintain high facility standards while
remaining mindful of budget considerations. Success in this role
requires a self-driven individual with strong time-management
skills who can work independently, stay organized, and take
initiative. The ideal candidate is proactive in identifying needs
and completing tasks with minimal direction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, other duties may be
assigned: Perform general maintenance and repairs across agency
buildings, grounds, and equipment, including tasks related to
electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC systems within
scope of expertise Prioritize daily work orders and implement
preventative maintenance schedules to ensure timely, cost-effective
service Collaborate with the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), to
evaluate, plan, and recommend major repairs, replacements, and
capital improvement projects Coordinate and oversee vendor
services, ensuring quality workmanship and compliance with agency
policies, budgets, and timelines Conduct routine inspections of
building systems and equipment, documenting findings and completed
work Identify opportunities to streamline operations, reduce costs,
and extend the lifespan of facility assets through proactive care
Respond promptly to emergency maintenance issues and safety
concerns Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies;
recommend purchases or repairs as needed · Promote a culture of
safety by following established health, safety, and environmental
protocols SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory
responsibilities. Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job

age, have valid driver's license, a good driving record and proof
of vehicle insurance and registration with a satisfactory Motor
Vehicle Report. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: · High school diploma
or equivalent required. · At least two years of hands-on facilities
maintenance experience preferred. · Solid working knowledge of
general building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC,
carpentry, painting, and grounds maintenance. · Ability to safely
operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and other maintenance
equipment. · Strong problem-solving abilities with the capacity to
evaluate maintenance needs and propose cost-effective solutions. ·
Effective organizational and time-management skills, with the
ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, multi-site
environment. · Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to
work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and external
vendors. · Demonstrated commitment to the mission of The Arc
Gateway and sensitivity to individuals with intellectual and
developmental disabilities. · Familiarity with Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations and/or prior experience working
with the I/DD community preferred. LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to
read and correctly interpret the maintenance requests, and respond
to common inquiries or complaints from persons served. Ability to
effectively present information to top management during the
Facilities Manager’s absence. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to add,
subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole
numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate,
ratio, and percent. REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common
sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,
oral, or diagram form. Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts and draw valid conclusions. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES,
REGISTRATIONS : The successful completion of Zero Tolerance, and
HIPAA certifications will be required, in which The Arc Gateway
provides. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are

conditions. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for
emergency maintenance needs. Working Hours : Requires a flexible
schedule with a minimum of 40 hours per week, generally consistent
with the Monday through Friday program hours. Occasional nights,
weekends and holidays when emergencies arise.
