Job Description Job Description Under the supervision of a
Speech Language Pathologist, the Speech-Language Pathology
Assistant (SLP-A) impacts students’ lives by: Conduct speech and
language screenings and perform hearing screenings (limited to
pass/fail interpretation) Working with students one-on-one or in
small groups to assist with language and communication development
Consulting with the Director of Special Education regarding
opportunities to incorporate speech and language strategies in
classroom settings Remaining knowledgeable of current trends and
federal and state regulations in the field of speech-language
pathology and special education to ensure compliance Assisting in
writing speech and language IEPs and progress reports to ensure
students are on track to reaching their objectives With permission
and guidance of the supervising speech-language pathologist, SLP-As
may participate in parent conferences, individual educational
program meetings (IEP), case conferences, and interdisciplinary
team conferences. Writing documentation notes of therapy sessions
as required by Medicaid regulations – treatment ties directly to
IEP goals/objectives; willingness to be trained on and use
electronic encounter tracking system Maintain student service logs
for each student on caseload Keeping certifications and licensures

in non-selective schools Possess Louisiana State Speech Language
Pathology Assistant Licensure Have a Bachelor's degree in
speech-language pathology from a regionally accredited institution
(including having successfully completed coursework in both
articulation and language disorders). If the bachelor's degree is
not in speech-language pathology, the degree program must include
the required core coursework as dictated by LBESPA Physical
Requirements Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear,
operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and
arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds This
