Job Description Job Description We are looking for an
experienced Assistant Controller to oversee key financial and
accounting operations at a local university. This role supports the
Controller in managing accounting functions, ensuring compliance
with policies, and maintaining high standards of financial
reporting. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in fund
accounting, financial management, and tax preparation, along with a
collaborative approach to leadership. Responsibilities: • Supervise
various financial operations, including financial reporting, tax
preparation, and accounts payable. • Manage fund accounting for
endowments, restricted funds, and plant funds. • Collaborate with
the Controller to establish and implement university financial
policies and standards. • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other
regulatory requirements in all accounting functions. • Oversee the
Bursar’s Office and provide guidance on financial transactions. •
Evaluate financial systems and recommend improvements to optimize
workflows. • Analyze contracts and grant proposals to assess
financial feasibility and operational impact. • Support the
preparation and coordination of financial audits, ensuring accuracy
and timeliness. • Develop and implement short- and long-term
financial goals in alignment with organizational objectives. •

Accounting is required. • Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
certification or eligibility to obtain. • Minimum of 10 years of
accounting experience, preferably in a large organization. • Strong
knowledge of fund accounting principles and GAAP standards. •
Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. •
Experience in financial reporting, tax preparation, and accounts
payable. • Knowledge of university or non-profit financial
operations is preferred. • Excellent analytical, communication, and
decision-making skills.
